Rick started in road construction in 1975 in South Carolina. With help from his step-father, an engineer building highways for the State, Rick started with a local road building contractor.
Five years later Rick went to work for a larger construction firm and helped supervise the building of the Charleston, S.C. airport.
At the completion of the airport in 1982 Rick was transferred to Naples, Florida to supervise the construction of I-75 & Pine Ridge Road. For the next three years Rick supervised the building of roads and overpasses around the State of Florida. These years of experience doing major projects prepared Rick for beginning his own business.
In 1985 Rick returned from traveling around Florida to permanently reside in Naples and start up his own business doing residential grading. This company grew rapidly and later became Dirt Movers of America, expanding into commercial work such as lake digging at Vineyards, Orangetree, Worthington and others. Dirt Movers of America began to receive requests to do paving and road work and soon found themselves doing parking lots at local schools and businesses and road work for the County.
In 1977 Rick and his partners decided to go their separate ways. Rick started Rick Bell Paving and has been growing this business steadily focusing on doing paving work for driveways, parking lots, and roads.
